Joanna Simon Vice President
Joanna Simon, Vice President of Fox Residential Group, is the consummate broker. Drawing upon a lifetime’s experience that makes things happen, she effects the most seamless of real estate transactions. Behind this apparent effortlessness, however, is an encyclopedic knowledge of the prime residential buildings in Manhattan, where she has lived all her life, coupled with a keen instinct to tune into her buyers’ requirements. Her diligence, understanding and foresight hasten the process from initial showing to closing, benefiting both seller and buyer. Eleven years ago these capabilities and more brought her recognition as the most promising new broker when she first joined the Fox Residential Group. Since then, she has sold dozens of luxury homes in a wide range of prices. Among her recent sales are: a 6-room home in the Ansonia, a 4000+- square floor home at 860 United Nations Plaza, a duplex penthouse at 660 Park Avenue, a penthouse on Riverside Drive overlooking the Hudson River, and a 3,000+- square foot home in the Park Vendome.
Joanna has also enjoyed a noted career as an opera singer, appearing in leading roles in major opera houses throughout the United States and Europe, including the Teatro Colon and the Salzburg Festival, and has been a soloist with major orchestras in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Vienna, Munich and Berlin, appearing under such conductors as Leonard Bernstein, Eugene Ormandy, Carlo Maria Guilini, James Levine and Herbert von Karajan. In addition, Ms. Simon also enjoyed a career as an Emmy Award winning Arts Correspondent with the McNeil/Lehrer News Hour from 1986-1992.
These diverse careers have served as the backdrop for the vast number of associations Joanna has cultivated. She draws from a huge client base both international and local. She is currently a member of the Real Estate Board of New York, the Manhattan Association of Realtors, the New York State Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
Joanna’s father was the co-founder of Simon & Schuster. Her sisters Lucy and Carly are musicians, while her brother Peter is a photo journalist. Her late husband Gerald Walker was a writer and a former editor of The New York Times.
